EREA – Escambia Retired Educators Association – Retired Escambia teachers and ESPs who meet monthly to visit socially and host a guest speaker or entertainment.
Its motto is “Committed to Community Service.”
Members are active with Reading is Fundamental, the Florida Retired EA, Barnes & Noble gift wrapping at Christmas, Storyfest, and many other community events.
- A Little Free Library was built and is maintained at the EEA office for the community.
- The Literacy Committee sponsors a 5th Grade Essay Contest each spring.
- EREA host a Retiree Luncheon where they invite all newly district retirees to learn about EREA and see what we are about. We have door prizes and entertainment and lots of fun!
- Also, at it’s retiree luncheon, EREA awards a scholarship to a deserving HS Senior and recognizes an Educator and Volunteer of the Year.
- EREA keeps members apprised of local and state legislation that affects public education.
- They schedule and take trips locally and abroad, and attend workshops at Makers Loft and other places around Pensacola.
