Southeastern Guide Dogs

About Southeastern Guide Dogs

Our Mission is to create and nurture a partnership between a visually impaired individual and a guide dog, facilitating life's journey with mobility, independence and dignity.

Founded in 1982, we employ the latest in canine development and behavior research to create and nurture partnerships between visually impaired individuals and extraordinary guide dogs. We serve more than 400 graduates across the U.S. and continue to place more than 100 dogs each year into careers benefitting people with visual impairments, and veterans.

We provide all of our services free of charge and receive no governmentImage result for guide dogs free clip art funding.

Our Services

Guide dogs, service dogs, faility therapy dogs, breeder dogs, and others transform the lives of our students and graduates.  It takes two years, tens of thousands of dollars, and a community of supporters and volunteers to create our world-class dogs.

The Career Paths of Our Dogs

  • Puppy Academy: Preschool and Kindegarten
  • Boarding School: 1st - 12th Grades
  • Freshmen Orientation: Canine Assessment Center
  • University Level: Pursuring a Major
  • After Graduation: Alumni Support
  • Retirement

Your Support is Essential to Our Mission

It costs our visually impaired students nothing to take home a guide dog. Because of people like you. We’ve matched over 2,800 of the nation’s finest guide dogs with students whose lives are changed forever after they leave our school. 100% of our expenses are paid for by private donations from caring people like you.

Can you help us continue to provide our guide dogs at no cost to our visually impaired students?  No gift is too small to help make a difference!

Volunteer Opportunities

We experience the joy of literally seeing lives changed forever because of the generous hearts of others, whether our donors who give of their resources or volunteers who give of their time.

That’s why Southeastern Guide Dogs is one of the friendliest places around. Most everyone here – whether staff members or one of our hundreds of volunteers – has a bit of a spark in their step and a ready smile.

We offer a variety of events and activities to engage people of all ages. We love opening our campus to friends and visitors! Find out more about what’s happening at Southeastern and out in our surrounding communities!
