Teachers Treasures / Leave a Legacy Is a program through EEA where teachers who are retiring donate their gently used items to EEA so they may be recycled and given to new beginning teachers. Our volunteers, Tina and Brittany, sort through everything and orgainize it by grade level and subject area.
Tina Dunson and her daughter Brittany, for the last 5 years, have spent countless hours turning this chaos into a mini Shopping Mall for new beginning teachers. Here are a few of the "in process" pictures. We will post more as we go along.
The Beginning of getting sorted and organized:
Organized & ready for New Teachers!
Ready, Set, Teach!
Supplies are dwindling.
Our New Teachers found value in our Treasures!
For those of you that may not know, EEA takes up donations of gently used classroom supplies to be recycled and passed on to our beginning teachers. These items come from teachers retiring, changing grade levels or leaving the profession.
This year's donations have far exceeded any other years donations. We do not know what we would do without our master volunteer Tina Dunson. Tina is an extraordinary person who has for the last several years taken on this challenge. She spends countless hours going through every donated item, sorting them by grade level and reuseability so that New Teachers could come and shop to stock and decorate their classrooms.
Other volunteers that have helped Tina are her daughter Brittney, Shirley Hill, Bonnie Boyd, Annie Carter, Rose Coon, Curtis Farmer, Bill Blankenship, Ila Harvey, Ordeane Lamar, Richard Loiselle, Majorca McQueen, Matea Washington, Lori Martin, Jeff Jordan, Scott Stetson and Tina's son Allen.
To Tina and her volunteers - Thank you so much! EEA doesn't know how we would do this without you!!!
