Woodham Loan Fund

PURPOSE:    To assist members of the Escambia Education Association in securing additional professional training.  This training may be obtained through an accredited learning institution or through the process of applying as a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Candidate. 

SOURCE OF FUNDS:    To be derived from voluntary contributions from EEA members and interested persons.

NATURE OF LOANS:    The amount of loan shall be for  $1,000 or less, including a fee of $10.00 to be used for cost of administering the loan and any charge for loan insurance.  Loans shall be repaid in not more than ten (10) consecutive monthly payments.  A member may raise their loan amount back up to $1,000 as long as the remaining balance and new amount are paid off within ten (10) consecutive months.

Membership and Awards

1. Only EEA members are eligible to receive funds. 

2. Exception to EEA membership shall be in situations where an individual is not currently employed in Escambia School District and EEA is representing the individual in litigation to restore employment.

3. Records of income and expenditures shall be maintained in the EEA office.

4. An assistance limit of $250 per recipient shall be established.  All requests shall be submitted to the EEA Board of Directors for action.

5. Assistance awards are limited to one per applicant per Association year.

6. An annual Gladys P. Hawthorne Benevolence Fund Raising Drive shall be conducted each year during the December Holiday Season.  The fund raising drive shall be a project of the Public Relations Committee.

7. In the event the fund becomes depleted, a drive shall be requested to collect additional contributions.

8. Contributions may be made in memory of, in honor of, or in celebration of people or events.  A letter will be sent to inform the family of each contribution.

Procedures for Awards

1.  The treasurer of EEA shall be designated as treasurer of the Gladys P. Hawthorne Benevolence Fund.

2. Recipients of the Gladys P. Hawthorne Benevolence Fund shall receive the money award as a free gift.

3. Award recipients shall meet the specified requirements and experience one of the following hardships:

a. Terminal or serious, prolonged illness where financial assistance is needed.

b.Fire to member's home and property.

c. Accidental injury or loss of life or property, to member or member's family

d. Loss of life or property due to natural causes   (hurricane, tornado,
lightning, wind).
